The work Modern Chess Set by Rachel Whiteread was auctioned at Phillips in London in January this year. It achieved a price of GBP 11,340.00 (€ 12,871.08), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 42%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rachel Whiteread achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Colours) in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 445,250.00 (€ 565,695.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Modern Chess Set von Rachel Whiteread kam im Januar diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 11.340,00 (€ 12.871,08) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 42%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rachel Whiteread erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Colours) im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 445.250,00 (€ 565.695,14).
