Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale, which included the work Windmill Near Tall Trees With Woman At The Wash Stoop by Piet Mondrian. The »bidding war« ended at USD 176,400.00 (€ 147,639.77), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet Mondrian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
