Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Piet Mondrian achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. In the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work Landzicht Farm Under Light Blue Sky sold for USD 201,600.00 (€ 165,327.21) - well above the upper estimate of USD 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet Mondrian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
