Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Omolu, Brazil, 1987 by Phyllis Galembo was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,000.00 (€ 858.59). Admittedly, works by Phyllis Galembo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Egungun, Bohican, Benin, 2006 in October this year with an auction result of USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,576.84).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Omolu, Brazil, 1987 von Phyllis Galembo im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.000,00 (€ 858,59) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Phyllis Galembo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Egungun, Bohican, Benin, 2006 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.576,84).
