(74.9 x 75.2 cm.) sheet: 37 3 ⁄ 4 x 37 1 ⁄ 2 in. (95.8 x 95.2 cm.) This work is number two from an edition of five.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Boys with Whips, Jacmel, Haiti, 1997 by Phyllis Galembo was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year. The price achieved of USD 1,638.00 (€ 1,549.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Phyllis Galembo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Egungun, Bohican, Benin, 2006, which sold at auction in October this year for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,576.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Two Boys with Whips, Jacmel, Haiti, 1997 von Phyllis Galembo kam im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.638,00 (€ 1.549,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Phyllis Galembo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Egungun, Bohican, Benin, 2006 beobachtet, die im Oktober diesen Jahres für USD 3.780,00 (€ 3.576,84) versteigert wurde.
