Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Paul Cadmus achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Modern Day Auction auction, the work Mallorcan Fishermen sold for USD 680,400.00 (€ 634,050.88) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Cadmus - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lloyd and Barbara Wescott, which sold at auction in November 2021 for USD 2,430,000.00 (€ 2,152,919.29).
