Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bumpman on a Tree by Paloma Varga Weisz was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,930.82). Admittedly, works by Paloma Varga Weisz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 46,875.00 (€ 37,897.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Bumpman on a Tree von Paloma Varga Weisz im Juli 2019 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.930,82) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paloma Varga Weisz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.875,00 (€ 37.897,16).
