Auction result well in line with expectations
The work One Million Years: Past – For all those who have lived and died & Future – For the last one by On Kawara was sold in the Contemporary Edition auction at Christies in London in September 2019. The price achieved of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,256.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by On Kawara achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Decade) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 4,175,000.00 (€ 3,715,735.14).

Die Arbeit One Million Years: Past – For all those who have lived and died & Future – For the last one von On Kawara wurde im September 2019 in der Auktion Contemporary Edition bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.256,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von On Kawara erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Decade) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.175.000,00 (€ 3.715.735,14).
