Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Norman Lewis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2017. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work By the Light of the Moon sold for USD 137,500.00 (€ 116,397.19) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Norman Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ritual in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,780,000.00 (€ 2,522,914.97).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Norman Lewis erzielte im September 2017 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit By the Light of the Moon für USD 137.500,00 (€ 116.397,19) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Norman Lewis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ritual im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.780.000,00 (€ 2.522.914,97).
