In October this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Untitled (brain) by Mona Hatoum. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,540.00 (€ 2,403.48), 27% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mona Hatoum achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Silence in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 470,500.00 (€ 349,736.12).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (brain) von Mona Hatoum zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.540,00 (€ 2.403,48) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mona Hatoum erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Silence im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 470.500,00 (€ 349.736,12).
