Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Objects Of Desire 2 by Meleko Mokgosi. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,847.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Meleko Mokgosi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Democratic Intuition, Lerato: Agape II, which sold at auction in October 2021 for GBP 94,500.00 (€ 111,956.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Objects Of Desire 2 von Meleko Mokgosi zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 44.847,07) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Meleko Mokgosi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Democratic Intuition, Lerato: Agape II beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für GBP 94.500,00 (€ 111.956,98) versteigert wurde.
