Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern Day Auction, which included the work Waterfall by Maurice Brazil Prendergast. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 88,200.00 (€ 82,191.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Brazil Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Stony Beach in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 3,526,000.00 (€ 4,170,313.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waterfall von Maurice Brazil Prendergast zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 88.200,00 (€ 82.191,78) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurice Brazil Prendergast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Stony Beach im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.526.000,00 (€ 4.170.313,42).
