Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Day at the Beach by Maurice Brazil Prendergast was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 61,440.00 (€ 56,325.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Brazil Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Stony Beach in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 3,526,000.00 (€ 4,170,313.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A Day at the Beach von Maurice Brazil Prendergast kam im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 61.440,00 (€ 56.325,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurice Brazil Prendergast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Stony Beach im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.526.000,00 (€ 4.170.313,42).
