Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Mary Weatherford was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction at Phillips in New York in June 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 18,900.00 (€ 15,952.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mary Weatherford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Coney Island in September last year with an auction result of USD 478,800.00 (€ 489,420.42).

Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mary Weatherford wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 18.000,00 – 22.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 18.900,00 (€ 15.952,06) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mary Weatherford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Coney Island im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 478.800,00 (€ 489.420,42).
