Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Black Moon by Mark Handforth was auctioned at Phillips in London in February 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 51,641.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mark Handforth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bent Pipe, which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 198,000.00 (€ 149,659.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Black Moon von Mark Handforth kam im Februar 2012 bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 51.641,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Mark Handforth mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bent Pipe beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für USD 198.000,00 (€ 149.659,86) versteigert wurde.
