In May last year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Untitled (Full Color Butterfly #720) by Mark Grotjahn. The »bidding war« ended at USD 277,200.00 (€ 258,317.03), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Grotjahn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 16,767,500.00 (€ 14,923,015.31).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Full Color Butterfly #720) von Mark Grotjahn zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 277.200,00 (€ 258.317,03) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Grotjahn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (S III Released to France Face 43.14) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.767.500,00 (€ 14.923.015,31).
