It achieved a price of GBP 7,560.00 (€ 8,696.20), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marcel Delmotte - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Les Colonnes D’Hercule, which sold at auction in February 2019 for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,079.71).

Die Arbeit Retour De L'Enfant Prodigue von Marcel Delmotte kam im April 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 7.560,00 (€ 8.696,20) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 51%. Für andere Arbeiten von Marcel Delmotte mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Les Colonnes D’Hercule beobachtet, die im Februar 2019 für GBP 27.500,00 (€ 32.079,71) versteigert wurde.
