Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Manuel Hernández Mompó was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,063.00 (€ 2,885.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Manuel Hernández Mompó achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mercado in October 2006 with an auction result of EUR 60,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Manuel Hernández Mompó im September 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.063,00 (€ 2.885,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Manuel Hernández Mompó erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mercado im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 60.000,00.
