Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Trama Y Urdimbre, 1998 by Luis González Palma was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 312.50 (€ 229.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luis González Palma achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Loteria I, 1989 in March 2014 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 21,775.42).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Trama Y Urdimbre, 1998 von Luis González Palma im Oktober 2013 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 312,50 (€ 229,88) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luis González Palma erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Loteria I, 1989 im März 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 21.775,42).
