Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cover Illustration for "Marina" by Ludwig Bemelmans was sold in the Modern Discoveries auction at Sothebys in New York in March last year. It changed hands for a price of USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,815.11) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludwig Bemelmans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack") in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 302,400.00 (€ 257,515.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Cover Illustration for "Marina" von Ludwig Bemelmans wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern Discoveries bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.815,11) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludwig Bemelmans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack") im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 302.400,00 (€ 257.515,12).
