Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ludwig Bemelmans achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March last year. In the Modern Discoveries auction, the work Café Scene sold for USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,950.96) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludwig Bemelmans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack") in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 302,400.00 (€ 257,515.12).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ludwig Bemelmans erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern Discoveries wurde die Arbeit Café Scene für USD 8.820,00 (€ 7.950,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludwig Bemelmans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack") im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 302.400,00 (€ 257.515,12).
