Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Wesen (Entity) by Lothar Hempel was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,125.00 (€ 2,466.85). Admittedly, works by Lothar Hempel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Casanova in October 2010 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,295.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Wesen (Entity) von Lothar Hempel im Juni 2012 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.125,00 (€ 2.466,85) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lothar Hempel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Casanova im Oktober 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.295,24).
