engraving and etching, circa 1595-1610, on laid paper, first state (of three), laid down, trimmed on or just inside the platemark, occasional faint foxing; with Holy Family under an Arch (B. 4; Bo. 1), engraving, circa 1585-1590, first state (of four), trimmed to or just inside the platemark, a tear at lower centre, a faint brown stain in the centre, other minor defects

The work Madonna and Child with Angels (Bartsch 2; Bohlin 3) by Ludovico Carracci was sold in the Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi auction at Christies in London in December 2012. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 937.50 (€ 1,156.20), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludovico Carracci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Salmacis And Hermaphroditus in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,400,000.00 (€ 10,832,732.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Madonna and Child with Angels (Bartsch 2; Bohlin 3) von Ludovico Carracci wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 937,50 (€ 1.156,20) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludovico Carracci erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Salmacis And Hermaphroditus im Juli 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.400.000,00 (€ 10.832.732,69).
