Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Agony In The Garden by Ludovico Carracci was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 45,000.00 (€ 63,794.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludovico Carracci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Salmacis And Hermaphroditus in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,400,000.00 (€ 10,832,732.69).
