Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Recto: Madonna And Child Verso: Two Figures, A Column To The Left by Ludovico Carracci for USD 15,000.00 (€ 11,042.40). This price was achieved in the auction Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludovico Carracci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Salmacis And Hermaphroditus in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,400,000.00 (€ 10,832,732.69).
