Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lucius (State I) by Llyn Foulkes was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 637.50 (€ 651.64). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Llyn Foulkes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work My Last Chance in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 106,513.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Lucius (State I) von Llyn Foulkes im September letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 637,50 (€ 651,64) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Llyn Foulkes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit My Last Chance im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 106.513,92).
