This artwork by Liu Jiutong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in January 2014. In the Boundless: Contemporary Art auction, the work May The Moon Watch Over You sold for HKD 812,500.00 (€ 77,518.52) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 450,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Jiutong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountain Against Island, which sold at auction in November 2015 for HKD 1,360,000.00 (€ 166,104.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 81 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Liu Jiutong erzielte im Januar 2014 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Boundless: Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit May The Moon Watch Over You für HKD 812.500,00 (€ 77.518,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 450.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Liu Jiutong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountain Against Island beobachtet, die im November 2015 für HKD 1.360.000,00 (€ 166.104,90) versteigert wurde.
