This artwork by Liu Jiutong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2017. In the Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) auction, the work WATERS OF HOME sold for HKD 437,500.00 (€ 49,956.61) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Jiutong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountain Against Island, which sold at auction in November 2015 for HKD 1,360,000.00 (€ 166,104.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Liu Jiutong erzielte im Mai 2017 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) wurde die Arbeit WATERS OF HOME für HKD 437.500,00 (€ 49.956,61) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Liu Jiutong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountain Against Island beobachtet, die im November 2015 für HKD 1.360.000,00 (€ 166.104,90) versteigert wurde.
