Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 21st Year Celebration by Kwesi Botchway was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May last year. The price achieved of USD 81,900.00 (€ 76,320.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kwesi Botchway - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Green Sofa, which sold at auction in November 2021 for USD 214,200.00 (€ 189,775.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 21st Year Celebration von Kwesi Botchway kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 76.320,94) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Kwesi Botchway mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Green Sofa beobachtet, die im November 2021 für USD 214.200,00 (€ 189.775,85) versteigert wurde.
