Upper estimate price exceeded by 50 %.
In April last year Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Contemporary Day Auction, which included the work Passionate Seller by Kwesi Botchway. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 478,800.00 (€ 57,890.41), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kwesi Botchway - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Green Sofa, which sold at auction in November 2021 for USD 214,200.00 (€ 189,775.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Contemporary Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Passionate Seller von Kwesi Botchway zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 478.800,00 (€ 57.890,41) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Kwesi Botchway mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Green Sofa beobachtet, die im November 2021 für USD 214.200,00 (€ 189.775,85) versteigert wurde.
