Upper estimate price exceeded by 25 %.
The work Merzzeichnung 47 (Merz Drawing 47) by Kurt Schwitters was sold in the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in February 2016. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 87,500.00 (€ 112,120.45), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kurt Schwitters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ja - Was? - Bild in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 13,970,500.00 (€ 17,455,471.33).
