Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Kelley Walker was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 94,500.00 (€ 77,497.13). Admittedly, works by Kelley Walker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Black Star Press in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 572,750.00 (€ 652,107.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Kelley Walker im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 94.500,00 (€ 77.497,13) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kelley Walker auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Black Star Press im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 572.750,00 (€ 652.107,49).
