The work Mask by Karl Wirsum was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2020. It achieved a price of USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,200.54), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 39%. Admittedly, works by Karl Wirsum have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Standing Figure in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 104,738.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Mask von Karl Wirsum kam im November 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 23.200,54) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 39%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Karl Wirsum auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Standing Figure im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 104.738,85).
