This artwork by Julia Jacquette achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in May 2009. In the Contemporary Art Part II auction, the work Women: Worried, Sad (Self-portrait with Mother) sold for USD 21,250.00 (€ 15,043.18) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Julia Jacquette; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Men's Hands (Handshake) sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of USD 25,000.00 (€ 16,066.84).
