Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The View at Ostend by Joseph Cornell was auctioned at Christies in New York in November this year. The price achieved of USD 107,100.00 (€ 98,184.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Cornell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Medici Slot Machine in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 7,781,000.00 (€ 5,704,545.45).

Die Arbeit The View at Ostend von Joseph Cornell kam im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 107.100,00 (€ 98.184,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Cornell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Medici Slot Machine im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.781.000,00 (€ 5.704.545,45).
