It achieved a price of GBP 49,250.00 (€ 58,805.81), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 64%. Admittedly, works by José-María Cano have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ws100-Jack Ma in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 3,220,000.00 (€ 380,075.26).

Die Arbeit Why Rent When You Can Buy (Lidia) von José-María Cano kam im Februar 2012 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 49.250,00 (€ 58.805,81) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 64%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von José-María Cano auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ws100-Jack Ma im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.220.000,00 (€ 380.075,26).
