Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Tense Ii by John Walker was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,523.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Walker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Oceania III, which sold at auction in November 2000 for USD 9,987.50 (€ 11,487.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Tense Ii von John Walker im März 2016 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.523,87) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Walker mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Oceania III beobachtet, die im November 2000 für USD 9.987,50 (€ 11.487,81) versteigert wurde.
