Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Five plates, from Ariel & Miranda by John O'Connor was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 60.00 (€ 89.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John O'Connor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ludgate, Evening in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 210,878.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Five plates, from Ariel & Miranda von John O'Connor im Oktober 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 60,00 (€ 89,65) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John O'Connor erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ludgate, Evening im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 169.250,00 (€ 210.878,05).
