In July 2021 Christies in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work When sorrow comes in summer days by John Melhuish Strudwick. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 187,500.00 (€ 219,882.63), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Melhuish Strudwick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 509,250.00 (€ 731,035.91).

Im Juli 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit When sorrow comes in summer days von John Melhuish Strudwick zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 219.882,63) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Melhuish Strudwick mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 509.250,00 (€ 731.035,91) versteigert wurde.
