Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Elaine by John Melhuish Strudwick was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 433,600.00 (€ 643,516.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by John Melhuish Strudwick have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2003 the work 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley was auctioned for GBP 509,250.00 (€ 731,035.91).
