Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian & Edwardian Art, which included the work An Angel, From A Golden Thread by John Melhuish Strudwick. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,183.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Melhuish Strudwick achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 509,250.00 (€ 731,035.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2009 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Victorian & Edwardian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Angel, From A Golden Thread von John Melhuish Strudwick zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.183,75) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Melhuish Strudwick erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 509.250,00 (€ 731.035,91).
