Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work British passing Days by John Melhuish Strudwick was sold in the 19th Century European Art including an Important Collection of Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2011. Here, the upper estimate of USD 400,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 410,500.00 (€ 285,545.35). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Melhuish Strudwick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 509,250.00 (€ 731,035.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit British passing Days von John Melhuish Strudwick wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art including an Important Collection of Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 400.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 410.500,00 (€ 285.545,35) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Melhuish Strudwick mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 509.250,00 (€ 731.035,91) versteigert wurde.
