Auction result well in line with expectations
The work In The Golden Days by John Melhuish Strudwick was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2011. The price achieved of GBP 241,250.00 (€ 275,870.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Melhuish Strudwick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye' G.F. Bodley, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 509,250.00 (€ 731,035.91).
