Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2014 Christies in London held the auction Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work The Trout Stream by John Brandon Smith. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,609.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Brandon Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A waterfall in a wooded river valley in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,602.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting & Wildlife Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Trout Stream von John Brandon Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.609,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Brandon Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A waterfall in a wooded river valley im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.875,00 (€ 9.602,46).
