This artwork by John Brandon Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2006. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work A Waterfall In A Narrow Valley, A Bridge Beyond sold for GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,627.41) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Brandon Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A waterfall in a wooded river valley, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,602.46).
