In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work A waterfall in a wooded river valley by John Brandon Smith. The price achieved of GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,602.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00.
