Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Figures overlooking a waterfall by John Brandon Smith was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,493.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Brandon Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A waterfall in a wooded river valley, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,602.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Figures overlooking a waterfall von John Brandon Smith kam im Dezember 2006 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.680,00 (€ 2.493,33) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Brandon Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A waterfall in a wooded river valley beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 5.875,00 (€ 9.602,46) versteigert wurde.
