Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Thanksgiving by Jessie Willcox Smith. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 23,731.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jessie Willcox Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Thanksgiving von Jessie Willcox Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.250,00 (€ 23.731,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62).
