Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study For Tiny Tim And Bob Cratchit On Christmas Day by Jessie Willcox Smith was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 55,000.00 (€ 35,347.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jessie Willcox Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).

Die Arbeit Study For Tiny Tim And Bob Cratchit On Christmas Day von Jessie Willcox Smith wurde im Mai 2008 in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 55.000,00 (€ 35.347,04) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
