Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work Round The Ring Of Roses by Jessie Willcox Smith for USD 110,500.00 (€ 77,100.20). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 125,000.00 – 175,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
